Landsdowne Resort - This Is How the Other Half Golf!
This round was brought to you by Booz Allen Hamilton. More realistically by an ardent BAH employee and friend Alan who put in the winning bid in a silent auction (with a little help from yours truly). Bottom line, awesome day of golf and dining at a very exclusive resort.
Date: Saturday 6/7/2014
Location: The Golf Club at Landsdowne (Robert Trent Jones Jr. Course), Leesburg, VA
Score: 82
Excuses: None
Course Conditions: Outstanding! Fairways, greens, and tee boxes were immaculate. Everything I expected from a country club course and more. Excellent experience.
The Good: Two over par on the front
The Bad: That I couldn't stay longer
The Ugly: Following up a solid birdie with a triple on a par five tailor made to reach in two (with two great shots that is)..
Recurring character profile: Alan. Beginning golfer. Took up the game upon getting hired by BAH last year. Has been hooked ever since. Also a dedicated Hokie and flag footballer, and chairman / CEO of Frugal Technologies. For his first golf outing I took him to Burke Lake, he got two birdies. He did score a 99 (Par 54), but is growing into a fearless putter and has respect for the game. Does need to work on the subtleties of golf etiquette. But if you know Alan, he is far from subtle :).
Should I ever return to this course (another successful bid, invite from a member, lottery winnings) I will probably play the course a whole lot differently, but overall, I struck the ball well, and had some phenomenal putts.
Until the next time. Back to the RANGE, PRACTICE GREEN, and GYM!

We played the Robert Trent Jones Jr. course, I wanted no piece of the Greg Norman course considering the way I played at Maryland National a week ago. I shot a good score here, but I only played the regular tees (5,958 yards). I probably could have scored a little better, but like any course I may only play once in my life, I played aggressive, and at times, way too aggressive. But I remembered my goal, the point of the exercise, and the sole expectation in golf, to have fun. I didn't want to talk about this round and beam with pride that I laid up on #16. While that didn't turn out well, I felt good about trying. Overall, I really enjoyed the course, the company, the weather, and the food. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time, and trust me, I eat a lot of burgers.
