Forest Greens - Sometimes You Get What You Pay For

Round 2 of the 36 Hole day.

Saw an awesome deal on GolfNow for a 2PM tee time at Forest Greens for $39.  Almost a no-brainer.  So I invite Mean Gene out and we hit the links.  When we arrived, there were no carts at the staging area (red flag).  When we finally checked in, they were at least 45 minutes behind.  When we dug into it, there was a tournament in the morning and they discounted all of the tee times that followed.  But, it's golf, make the best of it.

Date: Sunday 6/29/2014
Location:  Forest Greens Golf Club, Triangle, VA
Score: 82
Excuses: Slow Play, delayed start, practice green way faster than any green on the course.
Course Conditions: Not bad.  Greens rolled nice albeit much slower than the practice green (think I should know that by now as much as I've played this course), fairways were in pretty good shape, some of the tournament hacks left divots that should have been repaired...
The Good: Birdie on a pretty difficult hole, hit two par 3's in regulation, 71% in par saves
The Bad: Two 3 jacks from inside 20 feet.
The Ugly: 7 over on three holes in which I lost tee shots

It would have been a pretty good round with the exception of three holes in which I was 7 over.  If I manage to bogey all three of the holes I score a 78.  C'est la vie.  Had a good time, enjoyed the weather and the company, and managed to finish the round before dark.  Also a new tradition every time I play in Woodbridge or further south is to stop by El Zhaytoun Restaurant in Woodbridge.  Great Food and awesome mint lemonade.  Not the regular lemonade and then they crush some mint in the bottom.  They finely chop the mint, crush it slightly to release the flavor, and mix it in the lemonade for at least an hour before the serve it.  IT ROCKS!  I'm thirsty just thinking about it.

Until the next round (or Kabob with Mint Lemonade): Back to the RANGE, PRACTICE GREEN, and the GYM
Next Stop:  Kiskiack Golf Club
