Kiskiack - 36 Holes of Heaven
After a solid July 4th weekend with mom and the rest of my family in lovely Roanoke, VA (where I didn't play a single round of golf). I sneak out of Roanoke early Sunday morning for a 12:00PM tee time at Kiskiack. Always a pleasurable round on a extremely well maintained course.
Date: Sunday 7/06/2014
Location: Kiskiack Golf Course, Williamsburg, VA
Score: 81 & 77
Excuses: Didn't hit the range before I started the first round. Otherwise, none.
Course Conditions: Ideal, gorgeous weather, nice rolling fairways, greens in spectacular shape.
The Good: Two rounds for the price of one, friendly golfers always willing to let you play through if you're a single
The Bad: That I couldn't stay for another round
The Ugly: The 3 hour drive home
How to make an awesome course even more awesome? Offer more no-brainer deals. Usually I don't bother with loyalty cards that I have to buy. But the wonderful employee told me that for only $25, I could get the advantage card and I would get a lower rate and a free replay. When I asked how much replays were, she told me $35. No brainer.
Shot an 81 on my first round with a mere 29 putts. Not bad but got myself into trouble quite a bit off the tee and pushed the envelope a little too much. The 77 in the second round came without a birdie but being over 50% in par saves and hitting 50% of greens in regulation and 75% of the fairways. Great textbook Harry Sherman golf.
This golf course is always worth the 90 minute drive from Lorton and would suggest anyone play there. It's one of the many great golf courses in that Richmond to Williamsburg corridor. But one that I can now play two (or three) rounds for the price of one!
Until the next round. Back to the RANGE, PRACTICE GREEN, and GYM.
