Golf, the Universe, and Everything

Credit my brother-in-law (BIL) for this great story / anecdote. "Finding a good barber is like finding a good lawyer - you gotta go to the same guy." - Ronny Chieng The story begins with my BIL getting a haircut. He goes to the same reliable barber who does a good, solid job with his hair. One day, he goes to the same barber shop, but his regular barber isn't there. So he gets his hair cut by the barber who has the station next to his regular barber. The issue, the new barber does a better job than his regular barber... So much better in fact, that my BIL has been getting his hair cut on the days his regular barber is off... Now we've entered the near-illicit domain of "barber infidelity." I can just imagine what goes on in that barber chair week after week(cue John Legend)...  "Dude oh, though you give these great cuts to me Dude I know I'm not the only one you see But he don't have to know, he don't have to know Oh its getting crazy and I ...

This blog post is dedicated to my new obsession: Wordle The link if you're so inclined:  Wordle - A daily word game (powerlanguage.co.uk) I'm quite happy there's only one word per day, otherwise this would essentially dominate my day trying to figure out how many of these I could do in a single day. But it gives me something to look forward to each morning. It also gets the competitive juices flowing between my wife, me, and my brother and sister-in-law.  Part of me looks forward every morning to my wife asking me if I did the wordle yet and me trying to finish it in the same (or fewer) amount of turns. My wife is highly competitive so if one of us fails, then we'll never hear the end of it (at least until the next game).  Until the next time! Stay safe and get that dictionary app :)  

 Looks like the Washington Football Team is now the Washington Commanders. New Mascot: Jack Aubrey? Okay, this is it... Even though I'm a die hard Philadelphia Eagles fan (#gobirds), a part of me wanted Red Tails for the former WFT to pay homage to those Tuskegee Airmen who served with distinction in WWII (still fitting with the military theme). I'll still want to beat them, but at least they would have some respectability. Now, respectability has been thrown out the door. The best zingers: 1) "The Washington Commies" Although to be fair, for the past decade or so, we have been wearing red and cheering for a Russian at every Capitals game... 2) "Take Command, go Commando!" Aside from the fact the new Commanders share a name with the old San Antonio Commanders of the Alliance of American Football, they had to steal their old hashtag: #Takecommand. That's just lazy. So I decided to jazz up the slogan a bit (and reduce underwear sales in the DMV by 20%) Asi...

 Considering this is my first post of 2022, I get to kill two birds with one stone and only have to say "Happy New Year" once. Efficiency or minimalism, you make the call.  Minimalism... It's the LEAST you can do... No real theme this year, other than trying to establish consistency. We all have our New Year's resolutions, my only one this year is, stay consistent. With the caveat being consistent positive movement.   I have an OrangeTheory membership, time to be more consistent with showing up to class (even though I hate the rowing machine!!!) I have a treadmill at home, time to get on it when it's too cold to walk outside I have a putting "green" and practice net at home. No excuses for a horrific dip in my 2022 golfing performance I have a lot of thoughts that don't usually escape my brain, might as well write about them so I can clear the gray matter for new and fresh thoughts! I have two books I haven't read that I got as Christmas presents...
